Welcome to ASL Lotus!
Hi there! My name is Alyssa and I was born profoundly Deaf. American Sign Language (ASL) is my first language. I am an ASL tutor as well as the owner of ASL Lotus. ASL Lotus was established in August of 2020 offering inexpensive tutoring sessions. I am motivated to work with anyone of any age (ages 5 and up), and to connect with as many families as I can. ASL Lotus is based in Glendale, AZ and I work with clients across the United States! Growing up I attended Phoenix Day School for the Deaf and there, I saw many of my peers struggling at home because their families did not know ASL. Whatever the reason, I want to make sure the cost was not one of those reasons for not learning. That is why I’m offering only $30 for 40 minutes (one-to-one). Each session will take place on Google Meet at our scheduled time. In addition, after each session, you will receive another email from me containing the reviews we covered in our session that day.

Classes with Alyssa are exciting and always fun! She is very patient, flexible, and kind in her approach to organizing a class to suit her various student needs. Now that I'm at an intermediate level, she is finding new challenges like sessions on Deaf news, or conversation, or more complicated vocabulary. She can just as easily switch gears for classes prepared for my 5 y.o. son whose first language is ASL and effectively keeps his attention and love of learning.
